Tonya taught me, and taught many of us, that there are many cracks in the world where love should be, and darkness pours out of them—it is okay to see the darkness, and it is also okay to see beyond it and find a way to fill it in with something else. Goodbye to 2022: Slaying My Phobia of New Year’s Eve
My whole life I’ve been afraid of New Year’s Eve. This year, I don’t have solid plans for the night of December 31st. I haven’t hypervigilantly texted all my contacts to find someone, literally anyone, to just make me feel less alone. I’ve barely checked my texts in days. This is progress.
